See you at VMU Alumni Day!
“VMU Career Days 2023: for both students and graduates”
Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Career Centre warmly invites you to “VMU Career Days 2023: for both students and graduates” scheduled for November 9-10.
This year, we’re revamping the format of the event. Day one will be dedicated solely to students, while day two will be exclusively for graduates, seamlessly blending Career Days with our cherished Alumni Day tradition, held annually on the second Friday of November. However, we will invite students and graduates to participate in both days of the event: everyone will find interesting activities and opportunities for meaningful communication.
On the first day (November 9th), students will have the opportunity to cultivate new connections and network at the traditional employers’ fair, challenge themselves in interviews and selections for actual job or internship opportunities, and engage in discussions, attend lectures, and gain valuable advice on career development.
Before attending the primary Career Day and traditional employers’ fair and putting themselves to the test in an internship or job interview, from October 11th onwards, we will be inviting students to take part in a series of 6 training sessions (CV preparation, self-presentation, the importance of language skills in the labour market, etc.), in which everyone will have the opportunity to improve their competences and gain new knowledge that will be useful for fostering a responsible approach to the commencement of career planning.
On the second day of the event (November 10th) we will host the traditional Alumni Day, inviting alumni to come back to the university and reflect on their career journey, which originated from studies at VMU and brought them to the current career point. This is an opportunity not only to return to your Alma Mater, to talk to your lecturers and former course mates, but also to enjoy the path you have taken to reach your current career achievements and to share valuable experiences with current VMU students.
The experiences, knowledge, and skills acquired during their studies at VMU are highlights that are important not only for students’ future careers but also for the paths already taken by graduates. So don’t miss this opportunity to remember that university is a place that offers not only knowledge but also other meaningful experiences that will be useful in building your future.
November 9th programme
11:00 – 14:00 | Career Fair – networking with companies/organizations, making connections and contacts
11:30 – 14:00 | “Come and present yourself to the employer” – live selection interviews for internship and job vacancies
November 10th programme

VMU Career Centre remote informal lecture series: “Savęs link’23: išdrįsk rinktis ir keisti”
As every year, the Career Centre of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) invites students and graduates to take part in the remote informal lecture series “Savęs link ’23” in March and April, as well as to participate in presentations, discussions and to actively use the Virtual CV Clinic.
This year, the already traditional series of informal lectures will invite you to focus on self-discovery and self-knowledge and will motivate you to dare to choose or change. Starting or continuing your career journey – a process that is a big part of everyone’s life – can be a daunting task, with the difficulties and challenges that come with finding or trying to create your dream job.
This year’s theme for “Savęs link ’23”: išdrįsk rinktis ir keisti (dare to choose and change), will try to inspire and remind you that to find a job you love or build your dream career, you have to be unafraid to take a bold step on the path of exploration, to ask questions of yourself and of others, and to keep finding new solutions or answers to questions. There is no need to be afraid of making mistakes – this search for a meaningful and joyful pursuit is a very important and ongoing journey that helps you to understand and realize the importance of self-knowledge and to take the first steps towards purposeful self-knowledge, courage, or change.
This year’s series of informal lectures will introduce participants to self-knowledge from a variety of perspectives: how to build one’s self-image and make decisions to achieve professional success, how varied a person’s career journey can be, what success looks like from a psychological perspective, and the opportunities available to people with disabilities today. Experts will share not only the latest trends in the global market but also personal experiences, challenges, and highs.
In March and April, university students and graduates will have the opportunity to take part in a virtual CV clinic: to consult and review their CV with a career professional, and to get observations, valuable insights, and advice on how to prepare their CV to meet all requirements. Want to get advice and a consultant’s opinion? You can send your CV to: karjera@vdu.lt
April 3rd, 05:00 p.m. „How is rejection just redirection and why shall we make peace with the impostor syndrome?”

“My Career 2022: What Does the Employer Expect?”
On November 15th, 2022, the Career Centre of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) invites students, graduates, and other members of the VMU community to participate in the event “My Career 2022: What Does the Employer Expect?”
The Career Day will feature informative and engaging presentations by specialists and a fair for companies and organisations. During the event, you will be able to make useful contacts and networking opportunities, as well as interviews and recruitments with companies and organisations for real-life jobs and internships. This is a great opportunity not only to hear useful information and get to know the opportunities offered by companies and organisations but also a chance to find the internship or job you want.
This year’s main theme of Career Day is the employer’s dream worker. Anyone preparing for a job interview knows not to be late for the interview, to do your research on the job and the position you want to apply for, and to think about the questions you can ask the potential employer. However, these are just a few important aspects – employment culture and labour market trends are constantly changing, so it’s important to know what attracts an employer’s attention and how and what kind of employee a modern organisation looks for. This Career Day will focus on how to present yourself well, what mistakes to avoid and how to enter the job market with confidence and success.
