VMU Career Centre remote informal lecture series: “Towards Yourself’24: Shine in a Job Interview”

On March, Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Career Centre invites students and alumni to participate in the lectures and discussions of the informal lecture series “Towards Yourself’24” and to take advantage of the virtual CV clinic.

This year’s informal lecture series, which has already become a tradition, is focused on job interviews, so we invite everyone who wants to prepare well for a job interview, learn how to present themselves well, make a good first impression on the employer and shine in the job interview! The first (or even the tenth) job interview can be very scary and stressful, but if you are properly prepared, there is really nothing to be afraid of. Advice from experts in the field, who will be presenting at “Towards Yourself’24”, will help you realise that standing out from the crowd and leaving a unique impression on your future employer is definitely possible!

This year’s theme of “Towards Yourself’24: Shine in a Job Interview”, is a reminder that one of the key success factors in a job interview is self-confidence. We will try to help you gain this confidence, and it will come with knowledge and the right preparation, which also starts with an objective assessment of whether I am a good fit for the position and whether it is the right job for me. Job interviews are not to be feared if you know how to present yourself well and not be embarrassed even if you are asked an uncomfortable question during a job interview! So let’s meet in March and shine together in the “Towards Yourself’24” informal lecture series.

In March, university students and graduates will also have the opportunity to take part in a virtual CV clinic: to consult and review their CV with a career professional, to get observations, valuable insights and tips on how to prepare their CV to meet all requirements. Want to get advice and a consultant’s opinion? You can send your CV to: cv@vdu.lt

See you at VMU Alumni Day!

“VMU Career Days 2023: for both students and graduates”

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Career Centre warmly invites you to “VMU Career Days 2023: for both students and graduates” scheduled for November 9-10.

This year, we’re revamping the format of the event. Day one will be dedicated solely to students, while day two will be exclusively for graduates, seamlessly blending Career Days with our cherished Alumni Day tradition, held annually on the second Friday of November. However, we will invite students and graduates to participate in both days of the event: everyone will find interesting activities and opportunities for meaningful communication.

On the first day  (November 9th), students will have the opportunity to cultivate new connections and network at the traditional employers’ fair, challenge themselves in interviews and selections for actual job or internship opportunities, and engage in discussions, attend lectures, and gain valuable advice on career development.

Before attending the primary Career Day and traditional employers’ fair and putting themselves to the test in an internship or job interview, from October 11th onwards, we will be inviting students to take part in a series of 6 training sessions (CV preparation, self-presentation, the importance of language skills in the labour market, etc.), in which everyone will have the opportunity to improve their competences and gain new knowledge that will be useful for fostering a responsible approach to the commencement of career planning.

On the second day of the event (November 10th) we will host the traditional Alumni Day, inviting alumni to come back to the university and reflect on their career journey, which originated from studies at VMU and brought them to the current career point. This is an opportunity not only to return to your Alma Mater, to talk to your lecturers and former course mates, but also to enjoy the path you have taken to reach your current career achievements and to share valuable experiences with current VMU students.

The experiences, knowledge, and skills acquired during their studies at VMU are highlights that are important not only for students’ future careers but also for the paths already taken by graduates. So don’t miss this opportunity to remember that university is a place that offers not only knowledge but also other meaningful experiences that will be useful in building your future.
